Onto what is important here, your cats. I commend you for rescuing them. It is unfortunate that you don’t have the extra time or money to take them to the vet b/c that would be the best thing to do for them. On that note, let’s see what could be going on here…….. when a cat chews off their fur, it could be b/c they are itchy (which is why someone mentioned fleas) but they could also be stressed out. I have 4 cats and the 1st one I got tears her fur out when she becomes stressed. I use RICHARDs ORANICS PET CALM and I bought it at Petco (www.petco.com) Since you’ve mentioned the fact that it is scabby and dry, she could have an allergy…or just dry skin that she is itching. Try using a pet friendly shampoo for itchy/dry skin. Don’t use petroleum jelly, that will clog the pores. Skin has to “breath”.
Ok, the smelley ear. Sounds like an infection or some kind of hematoma. Try an antibiotic ointment after you rinse it w/ peroxide. Go to Petco, Petsmart….etc. See what you can find to medicate that ear!!!
Ok? Hope that helps.
